Wolverine Words!

Hello from the Home of the Wolverines!

Well, there’s snow on the ground, so I guess it makes sense that we just finished our first quarter of school, but it sure flew by fast!  We’ve had a very busy fall, with our sports’ teams going all over the state, fall benchmark assessments, and breaking in our new addition.  We had a great turnout for our open house and ribbon cutting ceremony back in September.  We would like to thank everyone again for all of your support over the past four years in getting the bond passed and the construction completed.  We believe we have worked out all of the kinks, and now we are working on turning the new gymnasium/stage area into a wonderful performance venue.

We just finished a very successful fall sports’ season.  All of our fall JH teams finished up their seasons very successfully giving us a bright future.  The HS Volleyball team played hard and kept improving all year long.  Our girls Cross Country team took home another team State Championship and Avery Parker took home the individual girls’ state title!  Our boys’ Cross Country team competed at the state meet as a team for the first time ever and all set personal records.  Our HS Football team had their most successful season in years, finishing 2nd in the conference and making it to the playoff quarterfinals.  We are very proud of all of our athletes and want to thank all of the coaches for their dedication to our kids!

The 1st quarter report cards for 2nd through 6th grade are available on the parent portal.  We are revamping our Kindergarten and 1st grade report cards, so those teachers will communicate with parents to let them know when the new report cards are ready.  If you need a hard copy mailed home or need assistance in logging on to the parent portal please contact us in the school office.

We have another busy couple of months before winter break.  JH boys’ basketball practice has already started and have their first home game on Thursday, November 9th, at 4:00 pm.  HS basketball and 6-12 Nordic Ski seasons start soon with their first games and races in early December.  We will also have our local drama production, band/choir winter concerts, and our holiday program to showcase our new multipurpose room.  Please checkout our school website: http://westyellowstone.k12.mt.us/ for times and dates of all of the upcoming events..  We will post any schedule changes on our home announcements page.   Always feel free to send me an email if you have any questions relating to the school: kflanagan@westyellowstone.k12.mt.us.
