Hello from the Home of the Wolverines!

Last Thursday was the 1st day of the 2nd semester, so we are on the downhill slide now!  We had a very busy and successful fall. Our Junior High volleyball and football teams showed improvement all season long and came away with some tough victories.  Our High School volleyball team had its most successful season in years, including winning matches at the district tournament. Our High School football team made it to the quarterfinals in the playoffs for the second year in a row, and our High School Girls’ Cross Country team took home another State title, way to go all of our Wolverine Student Athletes!

Our K-2 teachers have implemented Standards Based Grading this year.  This has been a big shift in how we assess and report on state standards.  The K-2 teachers have put in a lot of extra work, but they are seeing wonderful results in their students’ learning.  Thank you for being patient as we continue to iron out the bugs, but we believe we will continue to see powerful results.

Winter sports season is well underway with our boys’ and girls’ High school basketball teams competing each weekend, as well as our Nordic Ski team.  Senior night for the winter sports will be on Friday, February 8th. For the most up-to-date schedules, please check our school website. Our High School Speech, Drama, and Debate team will go to Three Forks this weekend for their State Meet.  Good luck to all of our competitors!

I would like to thank everyone in the community for all of your support this year and previous years.  We couldn’t do what we do without you! Please check out our school website for up to date information on school happenings: www.westyellowtone.k12.mt.us.  Always feel free to send me an email if you have any questions relating to the school: kflanagan@westyellowstone.k12.mt.us.  Let’s have a great second half of the year!

Sincerely,

Kevin Flanagan
